We wanted a swim top you wouldn’t immediately take off after swimming.

Something sexy enough to feel like your favorite bikini, with a little more to work with. Something you could wear in the water, throw on with low rise jeans, take on a walk, wear to class, and somehow still end up going out in later.

So we made a tankini.

A tankini, but make it Ismê

Our version starts where some of our favorite bikini tops do.

A sexy push up halter front keeps the feeling of a bikini, while an open back means you still get the tan line you actually want. We added more coverage through the body, giving you enough of a top to style well beyond the water.

The result is technically a tankini.
But it doesn’t really behave like one.

It wears like a top. It tans like a bikini.

Swim is just the beginning

The whole idea behind the Ismê Tankini is that you shouldn’t have to decide whether you’re getting dressed for the beach or for everything that comes after it.

Wear it with a bikini bottom and go swimming.
Put on tiny shorts and sneakers for the walk home.
Add low rise jeans and suddenly it’s just a really good halter top.
Keep it on for drinks.

That versatility is what made us interested in the tankini in the first place. Not as a more covered alternative to a bikini, but as a way to blur the line between swimwear and the rest of your closet.

For our first Tankini drop, we went back into the Ismê archive.

Turning familiar Ismê prints into tankinis was part of the point. We wanted the shape to feel new without feeling unfamiliar.
